Privacy Policy for QRdly
How the app QRdly handles your data.
In short
QRdly processes everything on your device. The app transmits no data to us or to third parties, has no user accounts, no advertising, no tracking and no analytics tools. There is no server that could hold anything of yours.

2. What the app processes and where it stays
Everything listed below is processed and stored exclusively on your device. We have no access to any of it at any point.
Camera image. The app uses the camera to scan codes. The image data is evaluated in memory only, for the purpose of recognising a code. No photos or videos are recorded, stored or transmitted.
Images from your gallery. When you have a code read from an existing image, you select that image yourself through your operating system’s picker. The app reads it to recognise the code; it neither keeps a copy nor transmits it.
Scan history. Recognised codes are stored with a timestamp in the app’s own protected storage area so that you can find them again later. You can switch this off in the settings and clear the entire history there at any time.
Your own codes. Codes you create yourself, and the content you enter for them, are stored in the same protected storage area. You can delete them individually.
Clipboard. When you create a code from the clipboard, the app reads its content at that moment. It is not retained beyond that.
Settings. Your choices for theme, language, sound, vibration and history are stored in the app’s system preferences.
Generated image files. When you share or save a code, the app writes the image file to the app’s temporary cache so that your operating system can hand it to the target app.
Uninstalling the app removes all of this data with it.

4. Handover to other apps
A QR code often carries an action: a web address, a phone number, an email address, Wi-Fi credentials. When you run such an action, QRdly hands the content to the app on your device responsible for it, such as your browser, phone or email application. From that moment on, the privacy policy of that app and of the website you open applies, not this one.
This only ever happens when you trigger it. The setting that opens links automatically is switched off by default.
5. Tips via in-app purchase
You can leave a voluntary tip in the settings. It unlocks no functionality and is never required to use the app.
The payment is handled entirely by your app store - Google Play or the Apple App Store. You enter payment details there, not in QRdly. All the app learns from the store is whether a purchase succeeded. We receive no personal data about you from the store, only aggregated sales and payout reports.
The legal basis for processing a tip purchase is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract).

6. Data collected by the app store
Independently of this app, Google Play and the Apple App Store collect data on installation, usage and crashes, and provide us with anonymised summaries only. We cannot identify any individual from them. We have no influence over this collection; it is governed by the providers’ terms linked above.
7. What the app does not do
- No advertising and no advertising identifiers
- No tracking, no analytics, no profiling
- No user accounts and no registration
- No sharing or selling of data
- No cloud synchronisation
- No transmission of scanned content to us or to third parties
8. Retention
Because all data stays on your device, you determine how long it is kept. You clear the scan history in the settings and delete saved codes individually in the overview. Uninstalling the app removes all data.
9. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21) with respect to the controller.
In practice we hold no personal data about you, because the app transmits nothing to us. A request for access could therefore only confirm that nothing is stored. For data your app store processes about you, please contact Google or Apple directly.
Independently of this, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
10. Children
The app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from children.
11. Changes to this policy
If the app’s functionality changes, we will update this policy. The version published here, bearing the date shown above, is the one that applies.
